To have peace of mind and a peaceful life is something most of us want. Yet, in the hustle-and-bustle of daily commitments – home, kids, school and work, it can seem hard to achieve. Life can be a roller-coaster full of highs-and-lows. When this happens, it’s still possible to be cool, calm and collected. You can gain freedom from disturbance and be at peace. What’s more, it’s good for your health.

BE AT PEACE IN YOURSELF:

Inner peace is comprised of calmness and composure. It’s a spiritually mental quality. A person who has the quality of peace in his or her thinking will be content, rest easy at night, meet difficulties calmly and remain poised in the most trying situations.

TIPS:

– Be at peace in yourself. Keep centred. Don’t allow another person to control your thoughts or actions.

– Have equanimity of thought. Don’t react when provoked. Be unruffled. Remember you are the self-composed individual that you were divinely created to be.

– Choose peace and calm over worry. “Never ask for tomorrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment…. This sweet assurance is the “Peace, be still” to all human fears, to suffering of every sort.” Mary Baker Eddy – Miscellaneous Writings p. 307:2

– Be contented with who you are, the good you have, the love of friends and family, and what you’ve achieved and still can do.

BE AT PEACE WITH OTHERS:

Each ANZAC Day, – April 25th, Australians give thanks that they live in a peaceful land because of the sacrifice others have made. For them, peace is not just a period in which there is no war or war has ended. It’s a state of living in harmony and brotherhood with all those who want to call this country home.

TIPS:

– Be a peace maker. Don’t be at war with others, or yourself.

– Be “…peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy”, because decency and justice “…is sown in peace by those who make peace.” Bible James 3:17,18

– Be calm. Don’t be pulled into someone’s emotional storm. Help them regain their peace.

– Be friendly. Peace starts with a smile. It’s a sign of friendship that begins inwardly, and is expressed outwardly. – Be gracious, courteous, thoughtful, patient, kind, to others. Don’t hold a grudge. Forgive and forget. Be at peace! It’s good for your health.
